A ‘fishy’ plumbing emergency in Darlington

“Hi, Angie. This is Pauline. Did you talk to the plumber about that problem I told you of last week?”

Angie paused for a second. In truth, she had forgotten all about her tenant’s call last week. Her tenants were an aged couple and they lived all alone in her two-storey house in Darlington. Angie had liked them on sight and had made an impulsive decision to rent out her house to them. They had been living in her house for nine months now. A week before, Pauline had called and reported a strange smell coming from the bath tub after the heavy downpour the week before.

Angie had been meaning to go and check out the smell but just could not find the time. And here was the reminder call! “Ummm yes, Pauline. I’ll come over with a plumber later this evening, if that’s alright with you and Daniel?”

“That’s fine. In fact, any time is good so long as they can stop that smell coming from the drain. It’s really quite obnoxious, you know, like rotten fish or something,” Pauline reminded before she rang off.

That afternoon, Angie visited the apartment with a plumber. Although the smell was not detectable at first, she experienced the pungent odour after a while. Just as Pauline had said, it seemed to be coming up through the bathtub. And it seemed to be coming in bursts.

The plumber opened up the drainage inspection point and look for any obvious signs of a blocked drain, After a while, he came back up to say that all the pipes clear and there was no blocked drains evident by ooking so he would have to use the CCTV drainage camera. To do this he would have to come back another day.

Something HAD to be done, and fast.

The plumbing agency in Darlington that could handle the problem, once and for all – a company that serviced Darlington and the surrounding suburbs of Rushcutters Bay, Elizabeth Bay, Potts Point, Ultimo, Sydney, Paddington, Surry Hills, Woolloomooloo, the Eastern Suburbs and Sydney City.

The next day a blocked drain plumber turned up and looked down the sewer lines with the camera. Just as they had promised, the plumber from Darlinghurst solved the mystery of the fishy smell in the bathtub, and it wasn’t even a big job. The sewer and drainage lines under the house had a build up of grime in the sewer due to a bend in the sewer pipes. The emergency plumbing problem was fixed by using the high pressure water jetter to clear the debis.
